SUBLIME OBJECT is a contemporary art exhibition presented annually as part of the Journées de l’Artisanat à Belleville (Arts and craft days in Belleville). Questioning the boundaries between art and craftsmanship, it highlights extraordinary objects and traditional and/or innovative skills.
The exhibition aims to reveal the diversity and freedom of creation stamped with the Belleville mark and to illustrate the new dynamics surrounding artisanal and artistic activities promoted by several collectives in Grand Belleville.
This 8th edition, entitled “The Desired Folds,” highlights the art of folding and reveals how artists and artisans bend materials to sublimate them. Textiles, paper, clay, metal, wood, or parchment—these materials fold without breaking and invite us to explore the boundaries of the world and to intrude into what was previously concealed from us.
Exhibiting artists : Cécile Bourdais, Christian Chang, Junior Fritz Jacquet, Jérôme Grivel, Philippe Hérard, Lika Kato, Mô Mathey, Hakuyo Miya, Emma Nony, Catherine Olivier, Prisca Razafindrakoto, Alison Vignault.
In collaboration with :
Karen Grigorian, founder of “La Maison du pli” (the House of Folds).
