Vincent Cespedes is a philosopher, a writer, a composer and a visual artist. Far from excluding or competing with each other, these talents allow him to give life to a universe of meaning, sounds and colors, in which feelings and flashes of lightning combine to make us feel the sacred fire of human ambition and the magic of links. His philosophy, his music and his pictorial creations belong to what he calls his “Grand Atelier”, a vast critical and aesthetic construction site thanks to which he probes reality and develops a new vision of time, the ” avenirism “, which abolishes the present and its adulterated cult to make the future the recipient and judge of our acts and our choices.

Begun in 2001, his ” Vitrales “, oils fixed under glass, make the viewer the accomplice of works in movement. As with his latest collections using Plexiglas, Clonades, Capsules and Yowothey incorporate his reflection in their smooth and shiny surfaces, making of his presence a “shadow in the picture” by which he concretely participates in what he contemplates. Here he becomes glass in his turn, that is to say reflected and fragile, receptacle of light and stripped of armor. At once memento mori and gnothi seauton, “Remember that you are going to die” and “Know thyself”, these musical agathas radiate energy and synesthetic magic. They introduce us to the heart of the best of thousands of years of philosophy: a dazzling meditation on the mystery of being, its fertile finitude and its power of intelligence and love.
