Collage

Florence Le Van can be defined as a creator of a discordance universe, a new surreal space-time.

After a PhD in Fine Arts from the Sorbonne University in Paris, she was a Fellow of the Hoschule der Künste Berlin (High School of Arts) in the photography section where she studied the different trends in Berlin photography and photomontage of the 1920’s (John Heartfield, Raoul Hausmann, Hanna Höch, George Grosz …)

This is where her passion for creating collage came from.

Hers collages are an unexpected staging of a lifeless space, suddenly inhabited by objects, animals, humans from nowhere or elsewhere.

The relation to reality is thus based on contradiction, humor, derision, the transgression of classical codes and the diversion of the meaning of images.

Florence Le Van uses the technique of collage on paper from images cut from magazines, various media or from her own photos without digital effects.
